What is self exclusion?

Self exclusion allows you the opportunity to block access to your account if you feel you may be having difficulties controlling your gambling, and provides a good means of gambling prevention.

You can close your betting account at any time, which you can then reopen again. Self Exclusion is different. Once set in place, your account will remain closed for a minimum period of six months. Re-access to the account is prevented, even if requested by you as the account holder.

  • We recommend that you get additional support and advice from a professional problem gambling support agency during the self exclusion period.
  • Although six months is the minimum period of time that self exclusion can be set for, there is no maximum period of time and self-exclusion can be permanent.
  • After the six month exclusion period has ended, your account will not be automatically reopened. A written request will need to be submitted after the six month minimum self-exclusion period has concluded if you wish account re-opening to be considered. Address your letter to Betfair Customer Services, PO Box 445, Stevenage, SG1 9GP, United Kingdom and quote your username. Please note that there will be a seven day ‘cooling off’ period after your letter is received and that re-opening of your account will be subject to review.
  • It is also possible to set self exclusion on Betfair by product type. This might be practical where you may be having difficulty controlling your betting on one or more product types, but are comfortable in managing other betting types.

Most gambling / gaming operators offer self-exclusion and if you have accounts with other operators, you should request self-exclusion with each operator where you hold an account. You should also consider installing software that blocks access to internet gambling websites.

How do I set Self Exclusion

You can exclude online from all or individual products for a minimum period of six months, once the six months has expired the exclusion will remain in place until a request is received to reactivate the account.

Full Account Exclusion

You can set six months exclusion online by going to ‘My Account’ and then clicking on ‘Player Protection’. From here you will need to select the option ‘Self-Exclusion’.

Poker Exclusion

This can be set by logging into your Betfair account and going into the ‘My Account’ section. From here you can click on ‘My Profile’ and then ‘Poker’.

This page can also be reached by clicking on ‘Cashier’ when logged into the Poker Application. This will take you to the ‘My Account’ section. From here you can click on ‘My Profile’ and then ‘Poker’.

Casino Exclusion

This can be set by logging into your Betfair account and going into the ‘My Account’ section. From here you can click on ‘Player Protection’ then Games and ‘Casino’.

This page can also be reached by clicking on ‘My Account’ when you are within the Casino part of the Betfair online site.

Arcade Exclusion

This can be set by logging into your Betfair account and going into the ‘My Account’ section. From here you can click on ‘Player Protection’ then Games and ‘Arcade’ in.

This page can also be reached by clicking on ‘My Account’ when you are within the Arcade part of the site. This will take you to the ‘My Arcade Account’ section.

Exchange Games Exclusion

This can be set by logging into your Betfair account and going into the ‘My Account’ section. From here you can click on ‘Player Protection’ then ‘Games’ and Exchange Games.

This page can also be reached by clicking on ‘My Account’ when you are within the Exchange Games part of the site.

Exchange Games exclusion allows you to exclude individually from each type of game, or fully from all and future games.

Skill, Dice and Backgammon Exclusion

This can be set by logging into your Betfair account and going into the ‘My Account’ section.  From here you can click on ‘Player Protection’ then Games and ‘Skill&Dice’.
